davestanton
Hi everybody. I know there are heaps of shelf pin jigs on the market. I researched as many as I could and ended up with the one Kreg makes. I thought it might be fun to make a video on how easy it is to use. Have a look at it if you have 5 minutes to spare and have been pondering getting a shelf pin jig. I also show how the 5mm and 1/4" drill bits work in the same jig. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX4rJkQMC-Y&feature=youtu.be
Carl Olsen
Nice video, I had no jig when I did my first bookshelf (guild build), so I did them manually. The thing is my pins are 7mm, all jigs seem to be 5mm. Im guessing there is nothing to do in my case ? http://www.leevalley.com/en/Hardware/page.aspx?p=40184&cat=3,43648,43649&ap=2 I always enjoy you saying hi at 4am in the chat room =P Carl
Spencer_J
Just used this on my latest bookcase project. It works great! The indexig pin is just sweet and simple. I was able to give my helper a 30 second tutorial and he drilled out the whole thing in 10 minutes!
TRBaker
Thanks, Dave. That was a great video. That's the first time I've seen a jig that doesn't require a vix bit. That's a plus for me.
davestanton
Thanks for the compliments on the video. I enjoy using this Kreg jig. Quick and easy. Carl, 4.00am for you, not for me, lol. TRBaker I might have to try a vix bit one day.
Spencer_J
I just started using a vix bit a couple of months ago. Why i never bought one before that, is a horrible mystery. It takes the center punch out of the equation for everything that needs centering. Plus the bit is protected while not in use. its lasted a lot longer than my jobsite counter bore and countersink dealy bobber.
