Adirondacker8
I want to do a script letter "K" wood inlay on the top of a Jewelry box I am making. I just did an "Inlace" inlay on another project using a razor knife to outline and a roto tool with an engraving bit to "hog out" the negative space that I filled with the Inlace product. With this type of liquid inlay it is not necessary to have a consitant bottom to the space where the wood is removed as the Inlace self levels but I don't have a tool that will give be a consistant depth to the carving I'd like to fill with wood inlay. This is why I went with the inlace on the last project. Will the glue under the inlay I insert fill that space? If not is there another product I can use in the space I hog out to give a consistant bottom to accept the inlay? Some kind of self level material? Do you think super glue will do that? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.
iSawitFirst
Roto tools have an foot that will keep the bit at a constant depth. If you don't have this you could make a plexiglass plate to mount the tool in. Or not. If you're within a 1/6" you'll be fine.
