RichardGreaves
I'm about to wrap up a desk build soon and would like to try spraying lacquer (with my new Earlex 5500) for the finish. Marc has recommended the Sherwin-Williams CAB-Acrylic but I can't find that locally. I'm having a hard time finding sprayable lacquer so want to ask anyone that spray's lacquer, What brand do you use and where you get it? -Rich
rodger.
I used chemcraft precat lacquer. Great product, but I went back to water based to avoid the fumes and clean up required.
RichardGreaves
@Mike, Thanks for the tip re SW. The Product Coatings outlet we have here in MA is about an hour from me. I called yesterday and took a drive up this morning. It's further then I wanted to go but I now have a gallon of CAB-Acrylic to spray this weekend. After I get some experience and know more of what I want, I may give Camger a try, they are much closer. BTW I am impressed that you found Camger via a search. You must have some excellent google skills.
Trip
I generally shoot straight piano lacquer for decorative items or cat-lacquer for items needing protection. For bathroom vanities and kitchen cabinets, I shoot conv-varnish. I only shoot low-VOC 550-compliant solvent-based. I order factory direct. Prior to that arrangement, my local paint store would order it in.
