Tony Wilkins
Trying to decide between Lake Eerie wood screws and Benchcrafted metal screws for leg and wagon vises for a bench if I can finally get one built (fingers crossed). Can someone help me with the pros and cons of each?
Tom King
I'll be using wood. I like the feel of them. Two turns per inch is fine by me. I just don't like the metal wheels. There are a bunch of guys making the wooden screws now on cnc machines. You can get any size you want made, although the Lake Eerie ones are just fine, and that's the size I'm going with. Lee Bussy
Wood has pimp value. Metal is smoooooth. Hard choice. I think my decision would be based on whether or not there was ANY other metal on there. Is everything going to be wood? Then wood screws. Hybrid? Use what you like using best. James Wright
I ended up going with Metal as much as I like the look and feel of a wooden screw I am going to be using the bench every single day and want something that I don't think about when I Drive it in and out so I went with Metal

That is for sure the most expensive one he has, but well worth it for a lifetime of use I felt. 24 1/2" capacity, fast, dead simple to use. His leg and wagon vises look great as well and don't cost nearly as much.

It seems to cost about the same as the BC stuff if you compare same level of included things. really leaning to BC. anyway I go I also need to decided Crisscross,mAYS chain, or parallel guide?
