nateswoodworks
We put in a humidifier at the same time we installed the new furnace and central air system. The filter in the humidifier is supposed to need replacing one to two times a year, but it is full of deposites after 7 weeks and is blinking to be replaced already. We have city water so I am pretty supprised! I am thinking of switching it over to soft water to see if that makes a difference (the co. says it should be about the same bt I want to see for myself). The way you hook it up to the water is a in line splice that you clamp onto your waterline, thread in a shaft that punctures the line allowing water to run through it (kinda like a straw) and into a small line that you thread onto the end of it. I have seen these before but have no idea what the actual name of it is, any suggestions? This way I can cap the existing line and run a new one from the soft water, whichever leads to longer filter life wins. Any help would be great. You can find them in just about any refrigerator ice maker installation kit at a hardware store.
