Nick2cd
I finally got my sawstop contractor saw all set up. it's an absolute thing of beauty! i came off of a craftsman table saw that wasn't even in the same universe as this sawstop. anwyays, i made my first cut with the sawstop and it was the smoothest cut i have ever made on a table saw (again, i don't have much experience with high end saws). of course, this makes me want to jump right into my next project! so i go to mill some lumber and my planer starts acting up on me! it's leaving divots and snipe. not feeding smoothly. needs some TLC i imagine. geeze! soooo typical! i just wanna build something! ChetlovesMer
Congrats on the SawStop. I love mine. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. As far as your planer goes dont' worry, you'll get it going. Just remember its all part of "being in the shop". Whether you are tuning a planer or putting the final finish on a masterpiece, you are still "In the shop" so enjoy. BTW, What kind of planer. I have a older Dewalt, bought before the current one which always gets rave reviews. I've been very happy with it. It has filled my dust collector more times than I can count and its still going strong.
John Anderson
i hear you brother, yeaterday i replaced the knives on my jointer. it was my first time so it took a while, but after about an hour i got all 3 knives set and the jointer was running good. i was excited. i jointed one edge of an old piece of reclaimed red oak barn wood and it came out great. i go to rip the other edge on my tablesaw and for some reason my beismyer fence wont lock down! come to find out a shim on angle iron rail had come off and i couldnt get enough pressure to lock the fence down without it. i JB Welded it back on and now it all works fine. Like Chet said, dont let it get you down. it is all just part of it.
Nick2cd
you guys are definitely right...it's all part of the gig. and it's all shop time which is always prized. my shop is like my golf game, nothing ever works all in the same day. nateswoodworks
A few weeks ago it didn't look like I would get any shop time for a couple weeks so it was perfect time to get some blades sharpened right, wrong. I dropped off my TS, MS, and radial arm saw blades off for what was supposed to be 4 or 5 days and turned out to be 2 1/2 weeks. Also turned out that I would have gotten a bunch of shop time, made the best out of it and sharpened my chisels and tuned and sharpened some planes. Your right, Muphy's law!
