Pine would be good to start. It's relatively cheap and if you can get a good clean cut in Pine you'll most probably get a good clean cut in just about anything else. Over in the States though it seems that Poplar is a good choice. This again can be ragged and 'fluffy' when cut so the same applies. Once you've got the machines mastered the world is your Oyster, or, should I say your woodbox. Very Best of luck. Just be safe and enjoy
