Srinivas Dharmasanam
I am building a redwood firepit (LP gas) table using a repurposed redwood slab. I was thinking of jazz'ing up the table with LED lights buried under epoxy surface coat. Does anyone have experience with this? I havent done this before and would appreciate some guidance. Thank you in advance.
Byrdie
Admitting to no experience with this type of application, my first bit of caution would be that, even though LEDs have a much longer life than other types, they're still going to want replacing at some point. If you're OK with that I'd recommend that they not be wired in such a way that one lamp burning out causes the entire string to fail. I'd think about boring small diameter holes from the back side, filling them while you apply your epoxy finish and then inserting your LEDs after the finish has cured. Sounds like a neat concept. I'd be interested in seeing how the finished piece turns out.
Srinivas Dharmasanam
Your idea of boring holes into the epoxy after its set to insert the LEDs is very good. Takes away the single biggest concern about how to replace dead LEDs. Will wait to see if there are any other creative ideas before I start.
