PaulMarcel
I'm looking for a down-spiral bit with either 8mm or 1/4" shank. It needs to have an 8mm or 3/8" diameter cutter head. Most likely the most probable is to find an 8mm shank 8mm cutter, but I'm not finding. Any leads? I tried the usual suspects directly. Prefer carbide but HSS will do as well. advThanks!ance
kforsythe@gmail.com
Do you really need the 8mm or 1/4" shank size? You are unlikely to find a spiral bit with the cutter diameter larger than the shank. If you can use a 3/8" or 1/2" shank check out the Freud bits. http://www.amazon.com/Freud-76-105-Diameter-Height-2-Flute/dp/B001J9HC66/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1299095521&sr=1-1 If you need the 8mm shank check-out Vortex Tools http://www.vortextool.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=63 http://www.amazon.com/Vortex-VX01322-Downcut-Finishing-Spiral/dp/B000K29RXE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=industrial&qid=1299095882&sr=8-
PaulMarcel
Yes, I need either shank size; can't use 3/8" or 1/2" :`( I know it's unusual for the cutter to be larger than the shank, but I thought I'd throw out all the parameters and see what came back. That Vortex is PERFECT! Ordering now! Thanks for the help! Never heard of Vortex before so added to my list of usual suspects I knew a CNC guy would chime in!
