Popular Post Tom King
It's reasonably light, doesn't take up much space in storage, and the platforms are really comfortable to stand on, while it's really stable. I may get the shorter versions as well. My feet get really tired standing on regular step ladders. It came from Home Depot. They aren't on sale, but I liked it enough to go ahead and get it. This would be a good homeowner ladder for changing light bulbs. The top platform is about 45" high. They yellow ladder it's standing beside is a regular 5' fiberglass one. That yellow tray comes off, and attaches to the back of the top. I just haven't cut the Zip ties that are holding it on, like it came from the store.
wtnhighlander
What's the load rating on that ladder, Tom? Looks like a really good general-purpose step ladder.
Tom King
I'll check today. It's pretty stout. The platforms are aluminum, with a good grip, but still easy to clean with a hose. I used it for changing the gutter on one side of the barn, and the whole thing was covered with mud not long before I took those pictures. 1
Tom King
I just went to check their website. I didn't realize there were so many different models. I just bought the first one I saw in home depot. https://gorillaladders.com/hybrid/ Looks like 300 lbs., which I'm sure is a conservative rating. https://gorillaladders.com/product/glx-5b/
elrodk
Two things. Home Depot has the 18ft multi-position gorilla ladder on sale for half price. It's not the step ladder with wide platforms but it looks sturdy. Tom, keep an eye out the next few weeks in case they run a sale on the one you bought. HD has a 30 day price match.
Popular Post Tom King
I liked that ladder so much, especially after using it for something once, that I bought another model the next time I was in Home Depot. This one is really only the same height, exactly, as standing on a chair, but it's rock solid steady, and I really like the platform. They had some cheaper, lighter ones, but I tried both in the aisleway, and liked this one better. I had to put a new block heater in the John Deere tractor. I called Pam to come hold the funnel while I poured the drained coolant back in the radiator. She stood on the little one, and I used the 4 foot one while holding the bucket. The ladders made it an easy, and even comfortable job. I asked her how she liked it, and she said we need one for the house. No more standing in a chair to change a light bulb. I was hoping they made some taller ones, but couldn't find any. I did find some Black Friday sales that covered ladders, so ordered one with the platform at 6 feel, and one with it at 8. I already owned ones with platforms at 10, and 12, but those are wooden (bought at an auction), and they are a little bit wobbly.
