joe mendel Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) I never took photos of how I whitened the tree canopy. What I did was make a sand baster from a Gatorade bottle and an air nozzle. I blasted the yellow skin of the burl until all of the oxidation surface was removed and a white surface emerged. The finish is super blonde shellac that I sprayed using a gravity feed spray gun, which did great in evening out the finish. Since the surface could not be scuffed between coats, I utilized a finish that broke through the previous coats without the need to prepare between coats of finish. Using a very light color shellac would be beneficial to not color the canopy much at all. Edited January 20, 2022 by joe mendel spelling 2
