sw1 Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Well thanks to Christopher Schwarz's book I had to start a bench. Here is the wood, Hard Maple for the base and Poplar for the top. Shop dog to help out a bit. First glue up for the top. More on the top glue up. All the top ready to get glued up. Me and my new base. Side view of base. Final Pic. side view of finished bench Oh and Happy belated St. Patty's day! to me!! Festool green is very festive. Quote

sw1 Posted March 19, 2011 Author Report Posted March 19, 2011 Looks good, nice and sturdy. Any idea what you are going to do for vises? Nate Yes, the left leg is set up for a leg vise. I ordered a Benchcrafted leg vise about 6 weeks ago, so it should be ready soon. I will post more pics when it is complete. Quote
Dyami Plotke Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 SW1, Well done. Looks like a good, well made bench. Enjoy its use! Quote
Gerry Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Looks great. I have a compromise type work bench, that works for now, but as I get more into building furniture, I'm finding it's limitations. I've already found which vises NOT to buy, ( already have them, rack like crazy). A proper leg vise and a wonder dog should do what I need.... This is just the inspiration I need to push me to make an upcoming project a proper work bench. Thanks for sharing! Quote
largecar48 Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 nice work bench. i also like the shop helper there Quote
