wondering what anyones opinion is on a cnc lathe... i understand this takes the art out of the actual, physical craft itself, but its still a design that came out of your head. i was wondering what program, if any, you guys would use. i have featurecam set up on my comp. could be used crudely for turning ...wood

The art isn't dependant on the machine, it's dependant on who's using it. I would love a cnc lathe for doing certain things. You might want to check out mach3. The software seems to conform to all industry standards and it pretty well-developed, but it doesn't seem that pricy. I ran a little hobby cnc mill that I was building, and it seemed to work great. It also works with lathes. If you added a small router or something to it, you could get some amazing designs.
