I Finally Feel like a Furniture Maker Again!

Over the past few years with the way the economy has been I have been forced like most people to take any job that comes my way. Don't get me wrong I am happy to have the work and anything that has to do with woodworking I enjoy, but lets be honest I really like making furniture. This month I have few furniture jobs in the shop and I am thrilled. These jobs will be the first commissioned furniture pieces I have made since April last year and before that it was another year. I hope at some point soon things get better. Until then after these jobs it's back to "handyman work". Hopefully no one takes this as me bragging about work, it's not, it's just me excited about getting back to want I love to do.

Its hard to get work all over the country. I rely on contractors and one goes out of business every day. The competition is steep and you cant compete with Ikea. Ive resorted to pocket holes and dominos to get production up enough to bring prices down a bit but even that doesnt help alot.
