Any tips on going semi-pro

I have been making a lot of small simple projects lately, and been getting a lot of inquires from friends & co-workers about the possibility of purchasing them.

If i wanted to start doing small projects & commissions to keep me busy, hone my skills, and maybe even add some cash to the tool fund, what kinds of advice do you all have?

Be very careful and think very hard before quoting prices.

If your client doesn't like your price, thank them for their time and expess your hope that you can work together in the future. Don't discount your work.

Give them a copy of your drawing, but omit the dimensions. Otherwise it's just a plan for your competion to undercut you if your client decides to shop around.

Keep your client informed. I've missed start dates and deadlines, but because I was proactive I was able to maintain and improve my relationship with them. I call them before they call me.

Try to work with only the husband or the wife. Both spouses can be a nightmare.
