ryandetzel
I have a 1HP dust system but my table saw, belt sander, router and circular saw are not connected so when I run those it gets kind of dusty. I'm in my garage and even though I wear a mask I was thinking of picking up one of these just to clear the air so I can take the mask off eventually. Do they work well? Darnell Hagen
Dust collection is best at the source. I'd concentrate on hooking up those tools first. After that, then yes, air filtration systems work, but they are not a substitute for at tool collection.

Filtration systems are good for cleaning the dust out of the air after you are done working. They are not fast enough to clean the dust as it is being made. The dust collector captures most of the dust, the respirator keeps you from breathing the remaining dust, and the air filter captures the remaining dust over time, so it doesn't build up. PeteJr
I have a Jet air filter unit over my tablesaw. I'm amazed how much dust it collects. I also have a large dust collector on the tablesaw but there's always something in the air that the Jet unit picks up.
areynoldsre
I just wait for a breezy day and do my sanding on saw horses in the driveway - don't have any problems with dust. Well except for my neighbor that complains about everything.
