PMR
Hey everyone, I have a sea trunk that my Grandfather traveled with from Italy in early 1910-1912. It’s has a leather outer layer. I would like to get it restored but cannot find a place to do it. Does anyone know of a place I could send it to get done. Thanks Pat
Derwood
Did you try cleaning it with a very lightly damp cloth yet? I am thinking a motorcycle accessory shop that specializes in leather saddle bags could help a mil.
wdwerker
I would look into leather cleaners. Maybe a luggage or shoe repair company. I bet an abrasive pad would clean up the metal, then mask off the leather and paint it. Metallic spray paint if you wanted a brass or antique brass finish. rodger.
Have you considered just cleaning it up and leaving it as is? What a great conversation piece!
dwacker
Check Tandy leather web site for a store near you. Those are the folks to ask. They hooked me up with a local for some morris chair cushions.
Derwood
Come to think of it. I second Franklin Pug on this. Would not touch it. You say he brought it here in 1910-12. Who knows how old it was before that?
