I took six years of woodshop in school and got a construction certificate by the time I finished High School.. then I have not done too much with it for almost 20 years. Now I just got my first table saw and I am hitting the ground running with more projects than I have space for. Beyond the wood stuff, I am a car guy, going back to school for Drafting and Design, taught myself to build tube amps, metalworking, bodywork, play some harmonica, design all kinds of projects and logos, cook, writing a few short stories and reiviews, and deep home remodeling. that covers most of the basics.
