innomat
Hello All South Africa has just been beaten by Austalia in a rugby match, so I have retired to my workshop to sulk. I spent my life working in the corporate world trying to do stuff that did not come naturally to me. I went to a technical school, went on to do an apprenticeship in communication electronics. Then entered the corporate world doing sales and then management. Why, when everything pointed to me being good at creating and making stuff. So, chucked all that in and joined some likeminded mates and started a cooperative joinery shop. Finally happy to go to work each day! Here are some of my recent fun projects. Wood lathe Africa style. Completed cannon. Recent commision, is a multi station yarn swift for a women that employs poor staff from underprivelidged areas of South Africa to dye and ball yarn made from bamboo. Cheers for now. PaulMarcel
Nice story and nice projects. The canon looks great! (does it work?! ) So can you explain more about this cooperative joinery shop? Sounds interesting. Is it a shop you put together and people can 'rent' time in it? Are projects collectively made and sold for the profit of the cooperative? Do tell. Hope you don't have to sulk too long
BenBreeg
Awesome, my sister in law and her family are from SA. I got to go there for the wedding, one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. They have a beach house just up from Mossel Bay and we were there for a week and in Cape Town for a week.
