wdwerker
I picked up a new Freud rip blade yesterday and spent the day ripping curly maple for a huge kitchen project. The blade is advertised for fast ripping in stock from 3/4 to 2 3/4" thick. It performed beautifully! 8/4 maple tends to burn easily when I use my glue line rip blade. The thin kerf is only 3/32 wide so it takes less power to rip thicker stock. After 8 hours or ripping I could tell it was much easier on my back as well. It does leave very slight saw marks on the cut but they sand or plane out with a single pass. Much easier to clean up than the burns from the glue line rip blade. Both blades have benefits but this one is a welcome addition to my shop! The teeth are square topped and leave a kerf that has a nice flat bottom for small dado's. I bought it for $42 from Peachtree Woodworking. They have a store in Atlanta and a website as well as a huge booth at the Woodworking shows.
