pro-staff
I was making a bench today from a tree I cut down from my dads front yard and started sanding. When I was done my first thought was could I put the finish on now and cut the dados later?! The grain and spalting was amazing and i can't wait to see it with finish!! Is there any one else who finds themselves in this situation from time to time? maybe we can start a support group...
osgw380
You're not alone I often keep mineral spirits to wipe on real quick when someone is around I can show a piece too. Also while no is looking I might wipe a little on and gaze longingly at it. By the way great piece of wood!!
pro-staff
Thanks, for letting me know I'm not alone!! this tree was dead and about to fall on the house, I thought I was making fire wood till i saw the spalting in the end grain and then the whole process got a little more intense. but i managed to get several pieces that range from 4/4 to 8/4. Vic
That is a beautiful piece of wood! You have to share when the bench is done. I'd love to see it.
