New guy in Florida

Hello guys, my name is Chip and I'm new to the forum (and to the sport) and wanted to drop a line and say hello.

I've been doing stuff with wood since I was a kid, but with the recent passing of my Grandfather (long productive life, he made a happy exit), I have inherited a pile of classic wood tools, power tools, stock, and some cryptic old notes. He took pretty good care of his tools so I hope to get a lot of use out of my new collection. This, coupled with the experience of recently remodeling my parents kitchen has given me the bug, and I mean bad. So a little digging online, and it didn't take me long to find myself here.

I look forward to learning as much as I can from you guys, and honing my skills to the level that I can be proud of.

My current equipment list is as follows:

ancient Craftsman compound miter saw

Ridgid granite top table saw (brand new)

ancient Craftsman floor standing drill press

Ridgid circular saw (what can I say, my wife likes buying me orange stuff)

old Black and Decker 1.25 hp fixed base router (in a custom box Grandpa built housing the router and a pile of bits)

Porter-Cable plate joiner

Millwaukee VSR 5" random orbit sander

and a PILE of clamps, chisels, squares, and 4 different hand planes. (also from Grandpa)

Okay, that's enough for now, talk to you soon!

-Chip

Hello Chip, I lived in Dunedin for a while (67-72) and have some friends there still. Welcome to the site. Lots of good info here. I pick up a tidbit every now and then, offer my two cents worth occasionally, and read alot of postings. Great place to be. Welcome.
