Renzo
Anyone have/ever use a sanding disc for your table saw? Seems like an inexpensive way to get a disc sander.
cowchaser
I can see what your talking about, but I don't think I would want to try that. Kind of like sanding with your drill press, eventually your going to damage the bearings from the side pressure. Now when I was turning I was known to use my lathe as a disk sander. Lawrence Brown
I think the time for the constant change back and forth would get to be a pain after a bit. You'd probably be better off just finding a used disk sander somewhere. Do you have Harbor Freight up there? It's not a terribly complicated machine, so even their cheap ones work okay. If you could find yourself a used motor, you could just make one: stick a wooden or metal disk on it and build a wooden platform to rest the work on. the only tricky part would be fixing the disk to the shaft, and there are several ways that can be accomplished. Or if you are intent on going the tablesaw route, get yourself one of those used, cheap aluminum job saws and write "disk sander" on the side of it with a big marker.
