Ancient1
Hello, I am new here, but thought would share a last minute idea. This last year I made each of the 4 daughters a cutting board for their birthday. I just whipped up a batch of Spoon Butter to give them all as gifts. I used the normal 4:1 ratio of Mineral Oil and Beeswax. 5 oz of beeswax and 20 oz of mineral oil filled 6 wide mouth 4 oz jelly jars. Fast and thoughtful last minute gift. wtnhighlander
Welcome, Ancient1! Does that ratio of oil to wax result in a thick cream, or more of an 'ointment' ?
Tom Cancelleri
Welcome, Ancient1! Does that ratio of oil to wax result in a thick cream, or more of an 'ointment' ? I do 6 ounces of mineral oil to 1 ounce of beeswax. It's a thick ointment like consistency. For a thinner butter like cream add more mineral oil. Ancient1
It is a little heavy and ointment like. Works well to scoop from the jar. Thinner might need differt container. BTW, Spoon Butter as it works well on wooden Spoons.
