I sanded it down, burned through the veneer on the top do I stripped it all except for the back piece. Then coveted it with spar polyAnybody know what kind of wood, would have been used as a substrate wood for something like this? Btw, when tearing it apart, between the floor of one drawer and the bottom, was a folded up newspaper looks like a way to stop it from ratteling. The paper was from the outskirts of london, 1918.
