Bench Tool Bin

Lawrence Brown

One of my more recent additions. I got tired of having my tools pile up where I was working, so I added this bin to the back. It's made out of ash scraps with a plywood bottom. Here you can see a cover that keeps dust out when I'm sanding or using the lathe. There are wooden strips along the bottom of the cover so it registers correctly and doesn't slide around. The top edges of the bin are slightly lower than the bench top so that I don't bump into it when I'm moving large pieces around.

nice idea...I might adapt this to my bench. I never liked the idea of a tool tray in the middle of my bench, but this would work for me. Also look like you have a lamp inserted into one of the bench dog/hold fast holes? Great idea! Glad I checked out the photo
