My daughter has asked me to make 2 shelves, each 34 x 10". They will sit above her washer and dryer, but she wants them attached without any brackets showing. Basically going from wall to wall  that enclose the laundry area.  I am at a total loss here as how to do that. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

thanks Steve for responding, wish I had know ahead of  time, but she is really good about adding things after the fact.) A floating shelf would have been a little more work, but atleast I would have know ahead of time.

Barry, think that's the way I will go. Originally I was going to put the cleat below all 3 sides of the shelf , is that over kill or not. There will be very little weight on it so she says anyways.

Thanks again,

Mike

"Very little weight" he says.

Making them out of 3/4" MDF, they'll be plenty heavy already.  This being a laundry room I'd reconsider the choice of materials.  (MDF and moisture don't play nice at all.)  An inexpensive utility wood such as poplar will sag less and won't mind the occasional splash of water.
