rodger. Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 I love to cook, and just received a beautiful knife sent from Japan as a gift. It is ceramic, and cuts like a dream. Can I hone a ceramic blade? Quote
JohnDi Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 You can buy ceramic sharpening steels. A metal sharpening steel won't work, they rely on being magnetized to help refine the edge on a metal knife. Just be careful how you handle it. They break real easy if dropped. 1 Quote
wdwerker Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 You might end up dulling more than sharpening it. If you bought Kyrocera ceramic knives from an authorized seller they will sharpen it for free. Diamond might work especially the finest grits. Be careful ,keep it wet. Quote
stephendavion Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 To Sharpen the ceramic knife use Diamond stones, but dimonds cause scratches on blade, so you must remove them all because scratches act as stress risers & can cause the brittle ceramic blade to fracture. So do with caution. Quote
