Chuck In Oregon Posted August 7, 2010 Report Share Posted August 7, 2010 I'm Chuck Stromme and I live in Cottage Grove, Oregon. I started woodworking after I retired in 2001 but had to put it off until I re-retired not long ago. I'm pretty much of a basic projects and shop jigs guy. I enjoy making things that please my darlin' wife or that I can give to friends and kids without embarrassment. I recently finished my first commissioned piece, commonly called "the world's simplest bench". I fancied it up some, used Miller dowels instead of screws, put a nice finish on it and inlaid an Oregon quarter. My customer seemed to like it but I'm no threat to real woodworkers. I also enjoy woodturning and just got my second lathe. I started with the gateway lathe, a Jet 1014VS, and recently picked up a Jet 1642EVS off CL. At $1,150 and including some tools, chuck and some great walnut bowl blanks I couldn't resist.
