friscomike
Howdy folks, I just returned from a fantastic three day workshop at the Annual Southwest Association of Turners Symposium in Waco, Texas. It has to be one of the very best symposiums I have attended. The administration was terrific and the presenters were all FIRST CLASS. I learned a lot and the bug to turn more really bit me. All that said, I still love the sound of a smoothing plan gliding across a face, and the sight of a square making sure all is okay. I have the need for turnings in my projects, so I am finally turning the corner with the gouge. BTW, I had a lot of fun conversing with an instructor from the Homestead Traditional Craft Village School of Woodworking at their booth, and he let me try out a few of his saws on dovetails. There is nothing like the sound of a mallet on the end of a mortising chisel....ahhhhhh. If you are a turner in the southwest, this is an event you need to attend. Commercial is over. Make some sawdust, Mike C aka Friscomike
