ulloa_josh
I just bought a "stick" of ebony to make some plugs with, and was wondering what's the best way to remove the wax coating? I know, not the most exciting topic but figured I'd ask. Thanks! -Josh
kentuckybill
I usually leave it on and just turn it off with my chisel.
samhell
I scrape it off with whatever is handy and then let the blank sit for a couple weeks (at least) to let the moisture stabilize. Usually they are still very wet when covered by wax. I made the mistake of scraping and immediately turning something and a few hours later it split all to hell.
