The Viall8r is in. I'm Sam Viall from Yelm, Wa. I am a Soldier on active duty at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. I've been getting serious about woodworking for two years now and am starting to really have a decent shop. I try to spend as much time as possible in the shop but I do have duty that calls often for a month (or more) at a time. I've served two fifteen month tours in Iraq both as a Cavalry Scout 2003-04 and an Aircraft Structrual Repairer 2006-07 and been stationed both Germany and Hawaii. The greater Seattle/Tacoma Area is my hometown and I've lived all over most of the state. I grew up watching my Grandfather run his carpentry shop and make violins in his free time. I have a degree in Machining and now work with sheetmetal and composites for the Army so I tend to bring that into my woodworking making several of my own plane irons and such. I'm a big fan of "The Woodwright's Shop" and have done several projects from Roy's books and series enjoying the quiet of handtool work.
