Landspeeder_95
Good day fellow DIY lovers. I've been a long time lurker, and would like to begin sharing my experience as it unfurls and I grow out of my amateur shell. I began with a LOT of fiberglass work in cars and have since began thumbing my nose at that for a growing love of the woods arts. So far everything I have done has been self taught, though some ideas I've picked up on from places such as thewoodwhisperer. As time marches forward I find myself highly enjoying building speakers, theater furniture, computer cases (current), etc. For example (in Chronological order): A tongue and Groove end table, rounded over with a router 45* bit as a way to fix my pup's chewing extravaganza pre-finish: 1/4" Torsion Box shelves that I can actually climb like a ladder! These are inspired from Mark's torsion box table. They use a cleat that is glued/bolted onto the wall. These are in turn glued and tacked to the cleat. My DIY speakers (using Jed Kuntz's designs). Are you able to spot the 1 measuring mistake on the right one (8mm off)? The speakers/subs currently have grills being built. Neo-magnets are embedded behind the speaker faces. BTW: 2+3/4" router bits do NOT play nice in a fixed base on the corner of edge grain. And every speaker system needs a nice rack. This one happens to be oak side legs, maple ply sides/top, and some scrap (unknown hardwood) edges. Again, all tongue and groove. The desk was my first ever project (and one that will be replaced with a style more befitting the media rack/speakers in the future). . The computer desk is going to be a more 'open' style with panels similar to the 'rack'. Where the drawers currently are will be this:
