JoeTaxpayer
How to finish around the window? The first pic shows a piece of 2x4. So there's 1.5 in of depth to get to the level of the framing. The drywall will add another 5/8". So, Do I glue up to get 1.5+.625 (2-1/8th) thick piece the width of the gap there, about 2.5 in, drywall meets it, and molding covers the joint? This project is slowing to a crawl, lots of not whole sheets of drywall.
WoodClips
You have the right idea there, except you are going to rip them from a 1x4 instead of gluing them up, so they are the distance between the window and the front face of the drywall. The drywall butts up against them, and the window casing goes over them (usually set back an 1/8" or so from the edge). Here's an article from Fine Homebuilding magazine on trimming out windows. JoeTaxpayer
Beautiful. Great article. Three of these windows. Should be done in a week or so, will put up pix when done. Much, much thanks.
