rodger.
Does anyone know of a plug-in or such that contains more than the standard wood pallet (pun intended) offered by make 2016?
JosephThomas
I would also like to know...putting that same 'texture' on anything ruins the sketches sometimes...
Bob Lang
Go to the 3D warehouse and search for "wood textures". There are several available, akb wood is pretty good. Download the model, and the wood images will be in the "in model" collection in the materials window. Right click on details and select "save as local collection" to use them in other models.
rodger.
Finally got around to doing this today. These textures are great - thanks Bob! It took me some fiddling to get them in the spot I wanted. In the end I created a folder called "wood2" and placed it in the program file directory under the "wood" folder that is included with the program. Bob Lang
That's the handiest spot but as you said it might take a while to figure out the file path. On PCs running SketchUp 2016 it is in C/Program Files/SketchUp/SketchUp 2016/Materials. If you make a new folder and put it there you can reach it from the Materials window in other models. Merlau
thanks for the link, now if you had a top that was 14" wide and 60" long how do you take a quilted maple sample and used it to fill the top it is either to much to look right or cut up in short pieces i have tried to use the edit menu to make it look right but no luck. Bob Lang
Sorry for the delay in responding. When you have a texture on a loose face, right-click and select "Texture/Position" from the menu. The colored grips that appear let you scale the material.
