nikbrown
Ok woodworking/woodturning friends I have this hunk of sandalwood some friends brought back from India. It's wet wood. Right now it's wrapped in newspaper and stored in a plastic bag.... But it's started to check a little bit on one side. What should I do with it? It smells great! ? Too small to make much other than a couple small turned projects of some kind.
Unknown craftsman
I really like the texture it has.So I would cut one end to sit flat and upright polish the top and plop it on a table and just enjoy it as is. I did this once with a block of gaboon ebony and gave to a friend. Aj
Barron
You could turn a pen with it. Polish it by sanding with up to 2000 grit and don't put a finish on it.
woodbutcher74
I've only heard of one use for sandalwood. Save the shavings from whatever you make with it and pack them in an incense burner. Breakout the bong and have at it. The 70's were so much fun. Sorry I'm just being a Smart A.
Tom Crawford
I bought 12 BF of sandalwood over 15 years ago, still have over half of it left. Use it mostly for bottoms or dividers in boxes. The oder is wonderful.
