Driller Miller
Hey guys I'm new to this forum and can't believe the amount of knowledge you guys have. Absolutely awesome source of info! So I'm building a workbench made of pine (wanted to do maple but seriously can't justify spending a couple G's on a bench at this point - so I did make up for that a bit on the hardware) and wanted to do a chop for my face vise. I'm not doing a leg vise or anything so wanted to make the chop something special. My end vise is an inset HNT Gordon (super stoked to install and use it's a beaut) but the face vise is a Rockler...needs a little pimping out and at some point replaced. The legs are flush with the front of the bench and it's about 24 inches from the end of the left side of the bench to the left leg. I'd love to include a picture but I'm at work. Let me know what you guys think or if you have any templates for a design that'd be awesome. Thanks so much!
drzaius
Check out the Guild bench project, it's priced very reasonably. Rather than pine, do you have good access to doug fir? It's much harder.
xxdabroxx
I used kiln dried doug fir on mine. Still working on it years later, lol. Darn house getting in the way...
