Ronn W
Stopped by Wood River today. I think that these socket chisels are new on the market. No reviews on Woodcraft site. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/socket-chisel-1-2 They appear to be well balanced and nicley finished. The bevel edge has only a 0.7 MM side wall - nice. The blades are thicker than the Stanely Sweathearts. At about $35 each depending on size they are meant to compete with the Stanley's and offer a lees expensive alternative tot he LIe-Nielson. I may go back and by one since I am comparing bevel edge chisels now anyway. I already have one each, Stanely, LN, and Narex premium (different sizes) It just occured to me that in my search for good set of chisels to repaced my old crafteman set I may end up with a "non-matching set" of excellent chisels and just decide to stop there. Think I should add Two cherries to the list??
wdwerker
Over many years 1/2" and 1/4" are the most popular sizes for me. #3 is a 1/4" chisel that I sharpened the sides to clean up routed grooves. Of course I'm not cutting dovetails by hand either, I've got a perfectly good router jig for that !
