Popular Post gee-dub
Something I knocked off my list while watching shellac dry . . . in other words, it took no time at all. If you are like me you use your shop vac for many things. One of mine is Dust Deputy equipped and is used for powered hand tools like a ROS, jigsaw or the router. Most of these tools have ports that cause my shop vac blower to try to turn itself inside out over the resistance at the port. A common way to solve this is to use a bleeder. My bleeder was built into my wand handle. This was OK as I just put the wand handle in the path and opened the bleeder to the appropriate amount for the tool in use. I'd always wanted something just a bit more elegant and while waiting for some drawer bottoms to dry I went ahead with it. My long 2-1/2" hose connects to the DD via one of these handy ends. I am always on the lookout for clearance items that will help out in the shop. I picked up half a dozen of these "shop-vac" couplers for a buck a ways back. They have come in handy now and again. Most have made a contribution, this one is going to make a sacrifice ;-) I calculated the precise size and shape for the bleeder hole before cutting into the end piece . . . didn't. I took a Gentleman's saw to it and filed the hole to shape. Now I can have full suction or adjust as needed without dragging the wand handle across the floor.
wdwerker
I drilled holes around the hose end where it attached to my ROS. Found a section of plastic pipe to cover the holes when I needed full suction.
Minnesota Steve
I got one of these... Not necessarily the most convenient thing ever... but you can attack a coupler to it and add additional hose, so it works fairly well.

That’s the wand handle I used to drag around; I still use it as intended. Definitely works. Definitely works.
