Ronn W
A freind of my wifes has asked me to duplicate a bunch of slates and armrests from a glider chair that she has had for years and really likes. Just a trace and cut job . The slats will be bolted to the metal frame of the chair. I had assmed that it was probably cedar since it has been outside for many years had not rotted. However I just exposed the grain on one piece with the jointer and table saw and I don't know what it is. I seems fairlyl light in weight but it is not very soft. The box of parts One jointed piece and one "as is" piece..... One end grain shot after cutting end off. and one edge pic Any ideas????? Chestnut
How old is the chair? My guess is Acacia wood. That's based of the last pic reminding me of mahogany grain but not quite being right. Also i figure you'd be able to recognize if it was white oak
