What kind of wood is this

A freind of my wifes has asked me to duplicate a bunch of slates and armrests from a glider chair that she has had for years and really likes.  Just a trace and cut job .  The slats will be bolted to the metal frame of the chair.  I had assmed that it was probably cedar since it has been outside for many years had not rotted.  However I just exposed the grain on one piece with the jointer and table saw and I don't know what it is.  I seems fairlyl light in weight but it is not very soft.
