When the router fence is installed, it should be positioned so that the flush trim bit is centered in the slot. To use this jig, place your piece in a vise, with the edge banding up. Place the jig so the router table extends to the rear of the piece. The router then slips down into the slot, and is Pushed from Right to Left. This is important as you are routing on the back side of the piece. If you go Left to Right, this will be a climb cut, and you may lose control of your router.
