Jessesky
Recently upon making a gunstock out of A grade English walnut, I began the finishing process using traditional English methods and mixtures . I first applied coats of 100% boiled linseed oil with alkanet rood dissolved in it to deepen the color and enhance the grain. After this I began applying finishing oil consisting of boiled linseed oil, turpentine, Venice turpentine, and carnauba wax. Again this is a traditional proven mix. I applied over the course of a month in very thin layers massaging it into the wood. Now after a month some blotches seemed to have surfaced. Could this be moisture that the oil is drawing out? Do you have any solutions? How do I fix this?
Chestnut
Some oil and wax working it's way to the surface? Have you tried to buff it off with a cotton rag?
