Popular Post Tom King
Harvey and I have been best friends since we were 5 and 6 years old. We built telescopes together when we were teenagers, hand grinding the mirrors. We built a 12-1/2", and a building with a roof that rolled off to be able to use the telescope. I've been working on buildings since then, and he telescopes. We've done a lot of other stuff together too. I know some of you are interested in Astronomy. http://www.nasonline.org/programs/awards/2022-awards/Moseley.html We still work on projects together. This is Harvey helping me fix the circuit board in a welder. He is one of the few people I loan tools to, not that he takes care of them, but helps me when he breaks something. http://www.nasonline.org/programs/awards/2022-awards/Moseley.html
Popular Post Tom King
This picture is Harvey and me in 1964. We were probably the first people to water ski on the lake here. A photographer was looking for someone to water ski so he could take some pictures for the power company for use in promoting the lake. For some reason, they ended up asking me through my Father. I had an Uncle with a boat, and some water skiis from Newport News. I learned, and said I knew a friend I could probably teach too. Long story shortened, this may be the first picture of anyone skiing here. By chance, this was taken off the end of the point that I own now. There were no houses, and no development on the lake yet. That Photographer, who had been a photographer for the Army in WWII, following Patton, became a Mentor for us teaching us how to develop pictures, and gave us a hand winding 35mm camera to use on our telescopes.
