sbarton22
Just a quick question, because I don't think I quite understand how a finishing wax works. I was making a little box. I finished it with a few coats of Danish oil. I let it dry for 4-5 days. It looks fine. I was looking for a little more shine and a little harder finish. So I got some finishing wax. I rubbed it in and let it sit for about 10 minutes, maybe less. then, I took a clean rag an buffed it off. It looked perfect. My question is about what happened next. After I buffed it, it still felt tacky and would still hold a fingerprint. So I rubbed it down again and hoped there was some drying aspect I didn't get. This morning, it was no longer tacky and looked great. When you apply the wax and after you buff it, is there an expected extra drying time involved? If yes, how long is that time? The end product looked great, but I almost feel like I did it by accident.
