duckkisser
dont know if anyone else know about this but captneddie turned me onto this finish for lathe stuff but i dont see why it cant be used on other surfaces. the mix is 1/3 Boiled Linseed Oil 1/3 denatured alch 1/3 shelac (only done clear but i suspect others can be used) goes on fast dries like shelac, has a nice smooth coat like shelac, pops the grain and color like linseed oil, shiny like shelac, best of all its does not smell like a pot of chemicals like the super glue finish i was playing with. wdwerker
Sounds similar to Tage Frid's triple "F" finish. Frid's Fast F---ing finish, good for all sorts of stuff. Easy to fix but it is subject to water rings like any shellac based finish. Consider it a version of french polish.
duckkisser
i have heard that shellac tends to cloud or ring when goten wet any other problems i might face? its perfect for the classroom because my teenage kids have the patience of a huming bird on crack. so i force them to use whipe on poly to get them used to slowing down. i then introduced the juice to them while they are turning pens, whistles ect...
