timmahoney34
I've been looking at veneer presses for marquetry. Prefer electric. I know the continueous run models are cheaper than the auto shut off. It would just be for my own use, not production. I also saw a DIY model. What are you all using? I'm going to the David Marks seminar in San Diego the end of Sept. and hopeing to pick up some good info.
tombuhl
In the [paraphrased] words of a highly reliable and trusted source, my brother-in-law, who does incredible veneer and bending work. "I would buy from vaccupress. Mercury = BAD. Vaccupress website is great, they have a forum. I've met the owner Daryll Keil" Even though Bill bought a unit from brand X, Daryll Keil spend a full hour on the phone with him about his system and problems he was having. That is good enough for me, once I am ready to add that capability. Sounds like Daryll can take you through options. Even if you don't expect to work commercially, it is no fun to work with tools/systems that just can't do the job, or are inappropriate for your needs. Hopefully you'll get some other opinions on this. Would seem good idea until after you've take the David Marx seminar. But if you do research beforehand you'll be better equipped to process his thoughts. Good luck.

Rick LoDico
Joe Woodworker sells a continuous run pump that does a fine job on veneering and vacuum clamping. http://www.veneersupplies.com/products/Excel-1-Continuous-Run-Vacuum-Press-System.html
