duckkisser
ok so i have finished my first official lathe tool. now to find out how well it works, sadly i had to go home before i could try it out because my angle grinder was being used by my neighbor and i needed it to finish cuting the shaft to put in my handle. sorry about photos best i can do with my camera in several pieces as i am trying to fix it. cost me less then 10 dollers to make it. (continue the next day) i made a small bowl on my lathe using my new tool. it cuts very strait, no catches, leaves a prity smooth surface except where end grain is.(i used some red oak with very large grain so usualy that leaves a rough cut on it from any catches but this is almost feels like its been sanded) its much safer for the kids to use because it has a square shaft to keep it square on tool rest, the blade is just a carbide insert so it does not catch much at all, got a long handle so it sits square against my body, it has a good weight to it so i dont have to press hard to start cuting, i put a double handle on it for a better grip. all and all its is a much safer tool for my studients to use. i have to thank CT proctor he let me come into his shop and try some of his easy wood tools so i can figure out that i like the long double handle tool, and how well the tool actuly cuts.
