tdale51@yahoo.com
I'm considering getting into turning. At this time I'm looking to just increase my shop capabilities with no clearly defined path so I can't tell you what I'd be interested in turning. My question for y'all, before I get too deep into this is; Do any of you have this book http://www.amazon.co...ref=pd_sim_hi_3 and if so what do you think of it as far as a place to start learning? Thanks.
Onboard
Did you read the customer reviews? Looks like half are 5 star and the other half of the reviews are spread fairly evenly from 1 star to 4 stars.
tdale51@yahoo.com
yes I read the reviews. I was looking for what people around here had to say.
duckkisser
try the library look through there collection of all the different libraries. alot of the information in the books has been just reprocessed over and over so one book can say the same thing as all the rest it might just be easer for you to understand where trying to say. there are alot of video on you tube that i found to be very helpfull. since i just started turning last year i found out there is a very short learning curve so if you stick to it you will probably pick up some expierences realy fast. if you have any question shoot me a email and ill help you figure some stuff out. at least as well as im able too. if you want to make your own decorating tools here is a post that i put out that has some easily made decorating tools these ended up costing me at most 25-30 dollers and here is one for easy edge tools http://www.penturners.org/forum/f30/how-carbide-tip-turning-tool-91939/ shows how to make em http://globaltooling.bizhosting.com/products/carbide-insert-knives.html link for the blades this has so far cost me 6-7 dollers
