coreyd
Hey guys, I'm new to woodworking and I just bought a lot of wood that I need help identifying. 90% of the wood was unlabeled, the few that where labeled were ash, maple, walnut, butternut, cherry and cedar. Ive taken a few pics of a few pieces any help is appreciated, I will post more pics as I pull more out. The last pic is everything I brought home stacked/leaning in my shed. If anyone is near me and would like to stop by for a few beers and help ID them is person that would be great, I'm in upstate NY.
Keggers
#1, 2 and 8 look like either soft maple or poplar. #3,4, and 5 might be red oak. #6 looks like it might be either red oak or white oak. I'm just guessing here.
Tpt life
Welcome! Hills in Western NY are my happy place to visit. Judging species from dirty faces can be tricky. That said, 3,6 and 8 have the look of oak or ash pore structures. 2 looks maple. 4 looks like a cedar variant. Those are just rough guesses. TerryMcK
#3 and #6 look like white oak. On second thoughts #3 could be ash. Eric will know looks like you have a nice haul. Edited August 9, 2015 by TerryMcK
