mikesmith648 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I am a leatherworker and I need someone that can/will build a stitching horse. I have the pictures and full size plans for it, but I do not have the tools or space to make it. If the price is right I might be able to get orders for 5-10 more of the same design. best contact for me is michaelsmith648@yahoo.com. Would prefer someone close to the College Station, Tx area but not a dealkiller if not close. d Mike Quote
wdwerker Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 I am curious. My shop is in Atlanta. I can take a look and see what would be involved. Depending on the finished size I have no idea what freight might be, but if someone was going to be in Ga with pickup or a horse trailer that might be an easy way to get it back to Texas. Quote
jHop Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 One of my hobbies is leather. You can make one real quick, using common lumber from the home center. Do you want the lap size or the sit-down/ bench size? http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/3133-00.aspx Was this the one you had in mind? If you don't want to do curved jaws, you can simply screw smaller blocks of 2x4 (or craftwood, or whitewood, whatever material you acquire from the home center) in place of the jaws. Just remember to counter sink the holes for the screw heads so you don't imprint screws into your work. Quote
Byrdie Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 I built the one Al Stohlman designed in his saddle making encyclopedia a number of years ago. Seated model with a foot lever for tension. It hasn't seen much use (yet) for leather work but it was a pretty easy build. I'll have to shoot a picture and post it. Wouldn't mind making another but getting it from MN to TX might be interesting. FedEx freight might be a possibility. Quote
wdwerker Posted April 21, 2013 Report Posted April 21, 2013 The original poster hasn't been online since the day he posted this. I think we are twisting in the wind and wasting our time at this point. Quote
TRBaker Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Guys, the original poster asked that he be contacted by e-mail. He gave his address in the post. Quote
Byrdie Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks TR. Someone just said, "Duh!" Guess who?! lol Quote
